- Q. Do I get to keep all of my negatives from all of the shoots, and are they the High Resolution negatives?
- A. Yes!
- Q. Are all of the Digital Negatives that I receive ready for print?
- A. Yes, all of the digital negatives to all of your shoots are color balanced and ready for print. Minor touchups are even done if necessary. You receive the highest quality images possible.
- Q. Why is wedding photography so expensive?
- A. Wedding photography in Utah is actually some of the least expensive anywhere in the United States, with that said, it is important to understand that to become a Professional Photographer takes a lot of time and money. It is a process that takes a considerable amount of school, workshops, and hands on experience, not to mention very expensive equipment and up keep... It is not simply learned overnight. That is the biggest difference between someone who has bought a new camera and thinks that they will be able to get professional grade pictures simply by shooting in "Program Mode". A true professional photographer has shot enough to know that you have to "Manually" be able to run the camera, so as to capture the perfect lighting, and give it a true professional look. A professional photographer knows his equipment so well and what settings to set it at in any given light situation, that he doesn't have to take your time figuring it out, he already knows. You truly do get what you pay for in photography. I can personally tell you that most professional photographers spend 20-30 hours of behind the scenes work on your photography. Shooting is the fun part, and that is all that people ever see. I guess this is why this is one of the most frequently asked questions.
- Q. I think I will have "Uncle Bob" shoot my wedding...
- A. That is fine just keep in mind the answer to the last question. Also realize that if "Uncle Bob" does a bad job you are talking "family" this makes it so much more difficult if you don't like the results…I have had more than one or two people tell me how badly they regretted having a family member or friend do their pictures.
- Q. What kind of equipment do you use?
- A. We use Nikon D300 digital SLR's, this camera is a 12.4 Mega pixel camera; yes we do carry a backup cameras, as well as backup lenses and flashes. Backup equipment is an absolute must! Make sure that whoever you book has it!
- Q. How long have you been a photographer?
- A. Heidi and I have been shooting professionally for over 18 years, and have been doing professional photography as our full time job now for 7 years. We have photographed weddings in Moscow, Russia, Ukraine, and all over the United States. We take roughly about 400,000 pictures a year, and shoot between 125-150 weddings a year.
- Q. What if we loose our Digital Negatives?
- A. No problem, we archive everything in 3 separate locations, and can easily at no charge burn additional copies for you.
- Q. What should we look for in a photographer?
- A. You should first find someone who's work appeals to you, then you should set up an appointment to talk to them in person, this is important, as you want a photographer who will make you feel relaxed and easy. If you feel comfortable with your photographer your pictures will show that. Then you need to make sure that you know exactly what you are getting in your package. There should be nothing hidden from you or any surprises, if there is, RUN! Make sure that the photographer will work with "you" and capture images that portray who you are. Not every bride and groom fits in the same box, so you need to make sure that your photographer can accommodate your wants and needs. Don't hesitate to ask for referrals, you can get more feed back on a photographer through referrals than any other way.
- Q. The time that is included in my wedding package is that just for the wedding day? Also how many pictures do you take on our wedding day?
- A. Yes, keep in mind that there is no time limit for the engagement and Bridal sittings. Normally they last about an hour. Also there is no limit on the amount of pictures that we take.
- Q. How many photographers work for RLT Photography?
- A. My wife Heidi and I are the owners and Photographers of RLT Photography.
